Ranked by discount depth: Anniversary Festival ≧ Winter Sale ≧ Summer Sale > Golden Week Sale > Spring Sale ≧ Special Week. That said, scale varies by year — the 2025 Summer Sale had over 160,000 eligible works.
Watch out for the sale gaps in May–June and September–October. If you find something you want during these periods, you’ll need to decide whether to wait 1–2 months for the next major sale or use a coupon and buy at close to full price (more on this in “Buy Now or Wait” below).
ASMR & Voice Work Discount Trends
Data from DLwatcher, a site that tracks DLsite pricing history, shows that sale participation varies dramatically by category. ASMR and voice works have the highest participation rate on DLsite — within 5 years of release, over 90% of works go on sale at least once. On the male-oriented R18 floor, more than 20% of works see an 80% OFF discount within 5 years.
Manga and illustration works tell a different story. Their sale participation is low, and if a work hasn’t gone on sale within 6 months, it’s unlikely to ever be discounted. Games are similar — roughly 30% have never been on sale even after 5 years.
For ASMR and voice works specifically, “wait and it’ll go on sale eventually” holds true at a surprisingly high rate. If you’re not in a rush, waiting is the cheaper option. The question is how long to wait — the next section helps with that decision.

Buy Now or Wait
During a major sale, just buy — that’s always the best deal. The real question is what to do when you find something you want and there’s no sale running.
In these three situations, buying now is often the better call:
1. There’s a limited-time bonus
Some works include bonus tracks or exclusive illustrations only for early buyers. Once the window closes, there’s no way to get them later.
2. The circle has never discounted their works
Creator attitudes toward sales vary widely. Some regularly offer 30–60% OFF, others never discount at all. DLsite doesn’t show price history on work pages, but you can check individual works on DLwatcher.com. If a circle has never discounted anything, waiting months for a sale that may never come isn’t a great strategy.
3. It’s a new release right after a major sale ended
Works released just after the Summer or Winter Sale face a months-long wait until the next event. For example, a work released in late September won’t see a major sale until the Anniversary Festival in November. New releases typically launch at 0–30% off, and there’s no guarantee a larger discount is coming. Using a 15% coupon and buying sooner may be the more practical choice.
On the flip side, if a work drops 2–3 weeks before a major sale, it’s worth waiting — it will often be added to the sale when it starts.
Coupons
DLsite distributes coupons frequently, even outside sale periods. Used well, they can get you 10–25% off at any time. Here are the main types:

Stacking Coupons During Sales
During the 2024 and 2025 Summer Sales, DLsite distributed a 15% OFF coupon that could be used unlimited times throughout the sale period. This stacked on top of sale prices — a 30% OFF sale item with a 15% coupon meant significant savings.
Not all coupons work on sale items, though. The rules change every time, so always add items to your cart and verify the coupon applies before checking out.
One practical tip: when coupons with different discount rates are available at the same time, splitting your cart can save you money. For example, if a 30% OFF coupon applies to some items but not others, and you put everything in one cart, only the 18% coupon may apply across the board. Checking out the 30% OFF eligible items separately ensures you don’t leave money on the table.
How Bundle Deals Are Calculated
DLsite occasionally runs bundle campaigns like “60% OFF when you buy 3 or more.” The 2025 Summer Sale had over 160,000 eligible works.
The key thing to understand: the 60% OFF is applied to the list price, not stacked on top of individual sale discounts.
Example — a work listed at ¥1,000 with an individual 20% OFF sale:
- Regular purchase (individual sale): ¥1,000 × 80% = ¥800
- Bundle deal applied: ¥1,000 × 40% = ¥400
The system automatically applies whichever discount is larger against the list price. “30% sale × 60% bundle = 90% OFF” doesn’t happen.
Even so, the savings add up. Buying three ¥1,000 works:
- With a 15% coupon: total ¥2,550
- With the 60% bundle deal: total ¥1,200
- Difference: ¥1,350
Bundle campaigns usually run during major sales, so when the Summer Sale or Anniversary Festival starts, check whether bundle pricing is available before buying anything.

Why the Anniversary Festival Is Often the Best Deal
The discount rates aren’t dramatically different from the Summer or Winter Sales. But the Anniversary Festival combines multiple events at once, making it the single best buying opportunity of the year.
Here’s how the 2025 Anniversary Festival played out: voting for the DLsite Awards opened in October, giving users time to identify and bookmark popular works. On November 22, the results were announced and the sale launched simultaneously. Because the sale was tied to the awards, top-voted titles were included in the discounts. Coupons were also distributed during the sale period. The combination of discounts + coupons + award-winning titles in one short window (~1 week) creates the highest value density of the year.
